Voice unlocking requires a PIN code in both Alexa and Google Home as a security requirement — without it, voice unlock commands will be refused.
Step 1: Re-link the Schlage Skill in Alexa Alexa app → More → Skills & Games → search Schlage Home → tap Enable to Use. If already enabled: Disable Skill → re-enable and sign in with your Schlage account. After linking: Alexa app → Devices → + → Add Device → Lock → Discover Devices. Wait 45 seconds. Your Schlage lock should appear in the device list.
Step 2: Set Up Voice Unlock PIN in Alexa Alexa app → Devices → select your Schlage lock → Settings (gear icon). Find Voice Code → enable and set a 4-digit PIN. To unlock via voice: "Alexa, unlock [lock name]" → Alexa asks for PIN → say the 4 digits. Locking does not require a PIN: "Alexa, lock [lock name]" works without a code.
Step 3: Link Schlage to Google Home Google Home app → + → Set up device → Works with Google → search Schlage Home → sign in. After linking, say "Hey Google, sync my devices". Google Home also requires a PIN for unlocking: Google Home app → Locks → select lock → Settings → Lock PIN.
Step 4: Check Lock Wi-Fi Connection
Voice assistants communicate with Schlage through the cloud. If the lock is offline, all voice commands will fail. Schlage Home app → check lock status. Step 5: Rename the Lock Consistently
If the lock name in the Schlage Home app differs from the name in Alexa or Google Home, voice commands may not match. Use a simple, consistent name: "Front Door", "Back Door", "Garage Door". Update the name in all three places: Schlage Home app, Alexa app, and Google Home app. Run device discovery again after renaming.
